BIOGRAPHY
John Sisson is literally a child of photography: his parents met while they were
both working for Polaroid in the mid 1960's. He is a Chicago-based documentary
photographer with over 15 years of professional experience in photography,
digital imaging, graphic design and strategic communications.
He holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the School of the Art Institute
of Chicago (SAIC) where he studied Photography with mentors Barbara Crane
and Ken Josephson, Printmaking with Jeanine Coupe Ryding and Art History with
Sir Robert J. Loescher.
In addition to his journal-based photography practice, John operates SissonPhotography,
a professional service specializing in journalistic documentary and promotional
photography for arts organizations, theaters, and visual artists working in performance,
time-based media and installation.
John is also an Assistant Director of Career Development at SAIC. In this role,
he assist college students with professional development in the fields of
fine art and design.
